North Korean missile tests follow one another.
North Korea fired a ballistic missile into the sea overnight from Saturday to Sunday, the seventh launch in two weeks, the South Korean military said, as quoted by the Yonhap news agency.
South Korean army chiefs of staff did not give further details.
The Japanese Prime Minister's Office confirmed the shooting on Twitter.
“North Korea has carried out an alleged ballistic missile launch.
More details will follow,” they said.
The missile appears to have landed outside of Japan's exclusive economic zone, Japanese government officials said, and according to that country's coast guard, no damage to a Japanese vessel has been reported, according to the Japanese channel. NHK.
Pyongyang earlier defended its recent round of missile tests against US "military threats".
The firing came after joint exercises between the armies of the United States and South Korea, which ended on Saturday according to Yonhap, and exercises with Japan earlier in the week.
