Europe is now actually submitting to the will of Kyiv, supplying it with weapons and refusing to cooperate with Russia as part of the formation of a new security system.

This opinion was expressed by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov during a meeting of the commission of the United Russia General Council on international cooperation and support for compatriots abroad.

“At the initiative of President Macron, a summit of the so-called European Political Community was convened, following which the head of EU diplomacy, Borrell, proudly announced that the process of forming a security structure without the participation of Russia was beginning.

In general, they dance to the tune of Kyiv and encourage the crazy fantasies of those who are still in power there, ”he said.

According to the diplomat, the loyal attitude of the Europeans and NATO to the Kyiv regime approved the administration of Vladimir Zelensky in the idea of the possibility of dictating its terms to both.

“This summer, Zelensky said that it was NATO that should give Ukraine a place in the common security space.

But the appetite is growing.

Following him, the head of his office, Yermak, said that Ukraine should become the axis around which a new security system in Europe would be built.

And last month, Foreign Minister Kuleba even said that NATO should join Ukraine, and not vice versa, ”he recalled.

Against this backdrop, Lavrov warned Western countries that they were taking on a huge responsibility for the growth of international tension by continuing to pump weapons into Ukraine, despite Kyiv's openly proclaimed nuclear ambitions.

“Once again we warn the United States and other sponsors of the Kyiv regime against ever deeper involvement in the situation as parties to the conflict,” the head of the foreign policy department added.

Architectural issues

It is worth noting that talks about the need to build a new concept of security in Europe have been going on for more than a year.

French President Emmanuel Macron pointed out the relevance of this issue back in 2019.

Then, in an interview with The Economist, he said that European countries can no longer count on the United States to protect their allies in the North Atlantic Alliance, and the state of the bloc speaks of "NATO's brain death."

“I want to add that at some point we will have to assess NATO... You have partners who are together in the same part of the world, and there is no coordination of strategic decisions between the United States and its NATO allies.

Absolutely none,” Macron explained.

He expressed the opinion that Europe should consider itself as an independent geopolitical unit and build up defense, while for NATO it is necessary to clarify the strategic goals.

Already in March 2022, he confirmed that he did not give up his words about the problems of the alliance.

At the same time, the French leader said that the situation in Ukraine allegedly gave NATO the strategic certainty that the organization lacked.

The need to build a new security architecture was also pointed out by the official representative of the President of Turkey, Ibrahim Kalyn.

At the same time, in an interview with The New York Times, he stressed that the West would need to listen to Russia.

“It will be necessary to hear the position of Russia, because ... there will be a need to build a new security architecture between Russia and the Western bloc ... We cannot afford another cold war.

It will be bad for everyone and costly for the entire international political and financial system,” Kalyn said.

The impossibility of building a common security system, excluding Russia from it, was also said the day before by former German Chancellor Angela Merkel.

According to her, the West should already be thinking about “how to create a future security architecture within the framework of international law.”

At the same time, Merkel stressed that a lasting and stable peace in Europe can be achieved "only with the participation of Russia."

“Until we really achieve this, the Cold War will not end either,” the politician explained.

However, Brussels tends to stick to a confrontational line towards Moscow.

From the point of view of Josep Borrell, the Russian Federation should not be allowed to discuss a new concept of security in the region.

He wrote about this in his blog on October 5, on the eve of the first summit of the European Political Community.

“For the foreseeable future and as long as Putin is in power, it is impossible to imagine a new security order or peace architecture in Europe where Putin would play a greater role,” Borrell said.

He repeated the same idea just before the summit.

“Europe has entered a new period in its history... 44 European leaders are here to find a way to build a new security structure in Europe.

This must be done without Russia... And all together we must determine a new trajectory for the Europeans,” the diplomat stressed.

"You can't call it a system"

Experts interviewed by RT agree that all attempts by European functionaries to exclude Russia from the discussion of a new concept of security in the region will hit the EU itself.

“Firstly, it will not be possible to call it a system: the exclusion of such a player as Russia means that it is directed against him.

Secondly, the concept would not guarantee any security, but would simply fix the unwillingness to talk with the Russian Federation and the bloc structure that de facto did not cease to exist in the conditions when the Warsaw Pact was dissolved, and NATO was preserved, ”explained Deputy Director of the Institute for Strategic Studies and Forecasts of the RUDN University, member of the political council of the MGER Victoria Fedosova.

According to her, the systematic undermining of the European security architecture is carried out in the interests of the United States, since the natural state of peace between Europe and Russia would mean weakening the dependence of Europeans on Washington.

The recklessness of Josep Borrell's statements about creating a concept of European security without Russia was pointed out in a conversation with RT by Vadim Kozyulin, head of the Center for Global Studies and International Relations of the IAMP of the Diplomatic Academy of the Russian Foreign Ministry.

“The Russian Federation is an integral part of geographic Europe.

Of course, the security of this region will depend on its position as a whole.

Therefore, all statements that it is possible to resolve such issues without the participation of Russia are empty words, ”he said.

According to him, security involves a balance of power and the observance of certain rules that guarantee a safe existence for everyone and the absence of reasons for conflict.

“If Russia is excluded, then there can be no talk of any security for Europe.

Everything will again come down to building a system around the United States, which will be the beneficiaries of the construction of a security architecture without taking into account the interests of Russia, ”the expert added.

In turn, Konstantin Blokhin, an employee of the Center for Security Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, in a commentary on RT noted that NATO, which is now so relied upon in Europe, has long lost its original functions, the main of which is to ensure the security of its members.

However, they are unlikely to change anything radically in Europe, since they do not have the resources for this, he believes.

“The goal of NATO is not only to contain Russia, but also to control the European allies, who themselves simplify the task of the leadership of the alliance in the face of the United States, not wanting to be independent.

It is significant that Russophobia flared up there as if by a click.

I think that they are satisfied with everything.

Creating your own European armies is very expensive, ”the analyst explained.

Victoria Fedosova stressed that, despite all the internal disagreements, NATO members are too tightly bound by the key player in the person of the United States, which is trying to subdue countries that are not members of the alliance.

“What remains relevant is the American-bred European elites and hard power in the form of US bases and military presence in Europe.

Occupation under the guise of ensuring security, the need for which is justified by inflating the Russian threat.

At the same time, Washington has been deliberately undermining not only European, but also world security for a long time, canceling one after another agreements with the Russian Federation in the field of armaments.

The United States has set a course to pump out technology and investment from Europe against the background of the unfolding crisis there, and at the same time to deplete Russia.

They plan to balance on the brink of peace and war until these goals are achieved, ”the expert concluded.
