For the first time in 60 years, the world is facing a serious threat from the use of nuclear weapons, said US President Joe Biden, speaking at a private Democratic Party event in New York.

“For the first time since the Caribbean crisis, we are dealing with an imminent threat of the use of nuclear weapons if events develop along the current trajectory,” the White House press pool quoted him as saying.

According to the American president, he knows Vladimir Putin "quite well" to neglect his statements about the "possible use of tactical nuclear weapons."

At the same time, Biden said that he does not consider it possible "to use tactical nuclear weapons and not end up with Armageddon."

At the same time, speaking to reporters on October 6, US Air Force Brigadier General Patrick Ryder, Pentagon spokesman, said that the United States does not see any changes in the Russian nuclear forces that would require retaliatory steps from Washington.

“We do not have any information that would force us to change our position in terms of strategic deterrence.

And we do not believe that President Putin has made a decision to use nuclear weapons,” he said.

Earlier, a similar statement was made in the Biden administration.

During a briefing on October 4, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said that Washington takes the topic of nuclear weapons very seriously, but does not see signs that Russia is preparing to use them.

"The West Kindles"

Meanwhile, the Russian Foreign Ministry drew attention to the fact that speculations about the possible use of nuclear weapons have recently intensified in the West.

In particular, this was pointed out by the Russian Ambassador to Washington, Anatoly Antonov, in his article for The National Interest magazine, published at the end of September.

“Princeton University even made predictions about millions of US and Russian population losses in the event of an exchange of nuclear strikes ... There are many publications in the American press of pseudo-experts who do not know history and give an incorrect interpretation of the current state of affairs.

Incorrect comparisons are being made to the current situation with the Caribbean crisis... US officials continue to escalate the situation.

They intimidate their own and the world community with “imaginary nuclear threats” from Russia,” the diplomat said.

A number of provocative statements were noted by the authorities of Ukraine and Poland.

So, on October 5, President Andrzej Duda, in an interview with Gazeta Polska, called Warsaw's lack of nuclear weapons a problem.

After that, he expressed hope that the country would be able to participate in the NATO Nuclear Sharing program for the joint use of a nuclear arsenal.

According to Duda, this topic has allegedly already been discussed with American representatives.

However, the US State Department hastened to refute the statements of the Polish president.

According to the deputy head of the press service of the department, Vedant Patel, Washington is not aware of any discussions about the possible deployment of nuclear weapons in Poland and does not plan to place them on the territory of NATO countries that joined the alliance after 1997.

In turn, Volodymyr Zelensky, during a speech at an event organized by the non-governmental think tank Lowy Institute, called on the countries of the North Atlantic Alliance to launch preemptive strikes against Russia in order to prevent Moscow from using nuclear weapons.

“What should NATO do ... Preemptive strikes so that they (in Russia. -

) know what will happen to them if they are used.

And not vice versa - wait for Russian nuclear strikes, then to say: “Oh, you are so, well, keep it from us!”

Reconsider the use of their pressure, the procedure for applying,” Zelensky said.

Later, the press secretary of the Ukrainian president, Sergei Nikiforov, tried to justify Zelensky's remarks, noting that he had been misunderstood.

“The President spoke about the period until February 24th.

Then it was necessary to apply preventive measures... Let me remind you that the only measures that were discussed at that time were preventive sanctions,” Nikiforov wrote on his Facebook page*.

Zelensky’s spokesman added that allegedly only the Russian Federation is engaged in nuclear blackmail, and “you will never hear such calls from Ukraine.”

At the same time, back in the summer of 2021, the head of the Servant of the People faction in the Verkhovna Rada, David Arakhamia, spoke openly about nuclear blackmail from Kyiv.

According to him, if after the collapse of the USSR Kyiv had not abandoned nuclear weapons, then Ukraine would have had the opportunity to blackmail the whole world with its use.

And six months later, Zelensky himself, speaking at the Munich Security Conference on February 19, announced his intention to initiate consultations within the framework of the Budapest Memorandum, according to which Ukraine would renounce nuclear weapons.

The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, reacted to the latest statements by Duda and Zelensky.

According to her, with its rhetoric, "the West is fueling a nuclear war."

In turn, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov noted on October 7 that the United States and its allies are trying to misrepresent Moscow's position on nuclear deterrence.

“Attempts by Washington and its vassals to distort our position are aimed at intimidating the international community, forcing its sane part to follow a failed course of recklessly supporting Kyiv in all its adventures,” Lavrov said.

The Minister stressed that Moscow has repeatedly pointed out the absence of changes in its policy on nuclear forces.

rock the situation

According to HSE professor Dmitry Evstafiev, the United States is now using its favorite “two-way strategy”, whipping up nuclear hysteria around the Russian special military operation.

“America is shaking the situation, exaggerating the issue of a nuclear strike, while intending to stay on the sidelines, at a safe distance.

Puppets such as the Ukrainian president are being used as conductors of this information campaign.

The ultimate goal of these efforts is to further drag their allies in the face of Europe into the Ukrainian conflict so that they cannot further reduce their assistance to Kyiv, and force Russia to surrender its positions, ”the expert said in a commentary to RT.

In turn, the director of the Foundation for the Study of the United States.

Lomonosov Yuri Rogulev noted that the collective West, led by Washington, inflating the nuclear issue, wants thereby to turn the world community away from Russia and prevent Moscow from strengthening its authority in the international arena.

“This is all pure propaganda.

The West is trying to present the world with a picture in which Russia is portrayed as driven to despair so much that it allegedly threatens world security with nuclear weapons.

From here, conclusions are drawn about the alleged cruelty and unscrupulousness of the Russian authorities, which should denigrate the Russian Federation in the eyes of the world community and force it to fully adhere to the position of the West, ”the analyst explained.

At the same time, the statements of the Russian leadership regarding actions and tasks in Ukraine are presented by the United States as insignificant, said Vladimir Vinokurov, professor at the Diplomatic Academy of the Russian Foreign Ministry, in a conversation with RT.

“The words of the Russian president and other government officials are distorted and distorted.

All this is being done in order to achieve global isolation of the Russian Federation, accuse of all sins and deprive of a place in international organizations, thereby returning the world to unipolarity, ”he explained.

However, such a world order is in the interests of only the United States, which achieves this by sacrificing the interests of its allies, Yuri Rogulev is sure.

“It is hard not to notice that the losses from the situation with Ukraine are mainly sustained by Europe today.

Therefore, its policy, subordinated to the dictates of the United States, seems completely suicidal.

However, today the EU countries are so deprived of sovereignty and are under the influence of Washington that they are ready to continue to sacrifice their welfare in its favor.

However, the US hopes in vain that they will be able to cope with Russia so easily.

Their commitment to escalation only delays the time when they still have to move on to dialogue, and reduces their opportunities for diplomatic maneuvers, ”the expert concluded.
