During the last mandate period, the Liberals have governed Gävle municipality together with the Social Democrats, the Green Party and the Center Party.

After the election, the ruling majority received fewer seats in the municipal council compared to 2018, while the opposition bloc on the right received more.

The Moderates and the Sweden Democrats together with the Christian Democrats have 30 seats in the council.

This means that if the Liberals switch sides, with their three mandates they can put the steering wheel over to the right.

How do you see a collaboration with the Sweden Democrats?

- We are open to talking to all parties, if we think it is a good policy, says Per-Åke Fredriksson (L), member of the municipal council in Gävle.

"Lost in trust"

The Liberals in Gävle fared poorly in the municipal elections and lost two mandates.

According to Per-Åke Fredriksson (L), it is because liberal voters want to see a bourgeois government.

- This election was the first time that we did not advocate a bourgeois government.

Unfortunately, we have lost trust and that is the reason why we are talking to the other bourgeois parties, says Per-Åke Fredriksson (L), member of the municipal council in Gävle.
