The Iraqi president calls for a serious dialogue to form the new government

Today, Friday, Iraqi President Barham Salih called on the political blocs to engage in serious dialogue and move towards forming a new government with full powers, to approve the stalled budget, align people's affairs and manage the next stage.

In his speech while attending the celebration of the Prophet's birthday, the Iraqi president said that "the absence of permanent stability exhausts our country and our people, and opens the door for foreign interventions that have made the country a field and fuel for the struggles of others on its land with the money and lives of Iraqis."

He added, "It is no longer acceptable to continue the status quo...the formation of governments is taking longer, constitutional clauses are more disrupted, living conditions and services are more bad, and it is not possible to bet on the patience of the Iraqis more."

Salih warned that Iraq "is experiencing a critical moment that puts it at a crossroads, either to go back to internal conflicts and line-ups, or to launch with a unified will that accommodates the grave challenges and meets the needs of citizens."

It is expected that the Iraqi parliament will hold a regular session tomorrow, Saturday, to discuss the items on its agenda, including completing the swearing-in of a number of deputies and discussing a number of bills.
