  • Newspaper library Pablo Iglesias announces that he is leaving politics: "I leave all my positions"

Pablo Iglesias aspired to teach journalism classes at the Complutense University, however, the former Vice President of the Government and former leader of Podemos has not managed to win the position of associate professor to which he had applied.

It has obtained a total of 4 points in the call, remaining in fifth place of the seven presented, according to what

OK Diario

has advanced and verified by this newspaper in the provision proposal published on the website of the Madrid university.

The position called was for the

Department of Journalism and New Media

of the

Faculty of Information Sciences

and a professional and teaching profile linked to information on radio and television was sought.

The score in this type of process is not obtained through an exam, but by professional and academic merits.

Therefore, "professional experience", "teaching and research experience" and "other merits" related to accreditations or master's degrees were valued.

In that global calculation, Iglesias has achieved 4 points but the winner has taken the place with 7.4.

Ahead of the former leader of Podemos, there have been three other candidates with scores of 6.65;

6.50 and 4.30.

Iglesias has been weighed down in the call by his limited professional experience compared to that of the rest of the applicants.

He is the one who has obtained the penultimate lowest score of all of the seven admitted.

In total, he has added 2.4 points, compared to the 5.4 achieved by the winner of the place.

Two others even reached 6 points.

The other two categories that were computed together had much less weight than professional experience.

The former politician has stood out in terms of his titles but has also been deflated when it comes to accrediting investigative experience in the field of communication or journalism.

The ambition to return to the Complutense was exposed by Iglesias on social networks a long time ago, when he announced that he had applied for two places to teach at the university where he had already taught and from which Podemos was created.

One of the squares was this.

The other was for the Policy Department.

Since his departure from politics was precipitated after the defeat in the 2021 Madrid elections, Iglesias has taken refuge in communication as a way of doing politics.

He has regular written and radio collaborations in various media and is involved in a podcast.

Before jumping into politics and during his career in Podemos, he did debate and interview programs such as

La Tuerka

or

Fort Apache

.
