The shooting took place on July 3, 2017, at the foot of buildings in the Reynerie district, in Toulouse.
At the start of the evening, a 27-year-old man, Djamel Tarhi, had been shot several times by a man hidden under a burqa, having pushed the comedy to the point of having a stroller where a Kalashnikov was hidden.
In this shooting, seven other people were injured.
This Friday, during their appeal trial before the Assises du Tarn, Walid Derqaoui and Abdelkader Ramdani, suspected of being the main perpetrators, saw their life sentences confirmed.
The conviction of Walid Derqaoui, considered to be the sponsor, has been aggravated, since it is accompanied by a 22-year security sentence, following the requisitions of the Advocate General.
Settling of scores
Three other men, accused of having provided weapons or logistical support to the killers and of having accommodated them, had their sentences slightly reduced or confirmed: 22 years for Jamel Bettouati, 15 years for Kamel Bettouati and 12 years for Yacine Frikass.
For Pierre Dunac, the latter's lawyer, if the conviction "is down, it is not satisfactory" because "this boy denies any involvement".
He also indicated that he was appealing in cassation “out of necessity” for his client.
Nicolas Raynaud de Lage, who defended one of the civil party families, for his part considered that "the verdict is satisfactory".
The elements of the investigation entrusted to the judicial police established that the victim had been held responsible for the assassination of one of Walid Derqaoui's brothers, against a backdrop of rivalries in drug trafficking which plague the neighborhoods of Bagatelle and La Reynerie.
In 2021, the Advocate General of the Haute-Garonne Assize Court, David Sénat, had described Walid Derqaoui as "killer sponsor and beneficiary of the execution", considering Abdelkader Ramdani as "his service provider, his killer at pledges”.
