In a historic precedent, the German Navy announced the promotion of a woman to a leading position in the Navy.

The School of Naval Technology in Barov, near the Baltic city of Stralsund, announced yesterday the appointment of Captain Corvette, Victoria Kitsman, 36, as the leader of the teaching group (C) at the school.

This appointment is not an unusual move, according to school captain Sven Jansen, who said, "I think it's great that our school has the lead in appointing the first female commander of the Navy."

Jansen added that the work of the recruits under the leadership of a woman, as a battalion commander, will shape visions for the coming years.
