China News Agency reporter Wang Peng

"For me, once you have identified your career, you must be responsible for your own life." Recently, 37-year-old Taiwanese youth Li Weiguo said in an exclusive interview with a reporter from China News Agency that after "landing" for six years, he has become more identified with the mainland. Development opportunities, in the future, I decided to take root in Chengdu, start a business and buy a property in the "Land of Abundance".

"Li Weiguo" is not an unfamiliar name in the Taiwan Youth Maker Circle in the mainland.

In May 2016, he left Taipei for development in Beijing.

In 2017, as a partner and general manager, he joined the cross-strait youth business incubator - HC Semitek Beijing Space.

In the following years, the HC Semitek factory was opened to Chengdu and Zhuhai.

Helping Taiwanese youths to start businesses in the mainland has been Li Weiguo's career in the past few years.

He frequently flew between Beijing, Chengdu, and Zhuhai, met young Taiwanese who had just arrived, and became their entrepreneurial "nanny".

"I like to hear them share their entrepreneurial dreams and stories with me, and I also hope to help them realize their dreams." Sitting in front of the reporter, Li Weiguo spoke with impassioned enthusiasm, not like a general manager at all, but like a young man who just graduated.

In the past few years in the mainland, it seems that every once in a while, Li Weiguo will make some "big moves": HC Semitek Beijing Space in 2017 is a starting point; HC Semitek Factory and Chengdu Space in 2018 seize opportunities in the west, It coincides with the later "Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle"; in 2020, HC Semitek Factory·Zhuhai Space has borrowed the east wind of the "Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area".

"In recent years, the mainland has paid more and more attention to Taiwan compatriots, especially Taiwanese youth." Li Weiguo explained that his intense rhythm is precisely to seize opportunities, "The mainland has a large market, but also has a large population and competition. Naturally strong. If we can play the 'first move' well, coupled with the careful implementation of Taiwan's favorable policies by local governments and the care for Taiwan's youth, we are very advantageous."

In the first half of this year, after working as a "nanny" for Taiwanese makers for several years, Li Weiguo decided to start his own business. He and several friends registered a company in Chengdu, mainly engaged in rural revitalization, bringing Taiwan's local creation experience to the mainland.

Talking about why you finally chose Chengdu?

Li Weiguo sighed that the living atmosphere in Chengdu is particularly good, and the climate and environment are very similar to those in Taiwan.

In his view, Sichuan has developed tourism resources and is a traditional agricultural province. "If you choose the path of rural revitalization and local creation, you must choose the most suitable place."

Li Weiguo told reporters that thanks to the resources accumulated in Chengdu over the past few years, the company has just started to have strategic partners and orders.

In his plan, the company will start from Chengdu and expand to the whole of Sichuan, and even the whole country and Asia.

"The mainland is making every effort to promote rural revitalization and carbon neutralization. The sustainable development of rural areas is an important part. Taiwan has advantages and experience in this regard." Li Weiguo believes that in terms of rural revitalization, Taiwan and the mainland have good bonding point.

He gave an example of the camping that emerged in Chengdu this year. "Camping is already a mature way of life in Taiwan. We have investigated the surrounding areas of Chengdu, and there is no mature camping camp similar to that in Taiwan. This is a direction." (End)
