Despite the legal setbacks that have piled up against Donald Trump, the former president has recently been holding regular campaign rallies ahead of his upcoming campaign.

When he spoke on Thursday night, Swedish time, he commented on the ongoing investigation regarding the classified documents that were found during a search of Trump's residence Mar-a-Lago in Florida.

There he called the whole thing a "scam".

- You are probably familiar with the document scam.

Has anyone heard of it?

said Trump during the speech while the audience applauded.

- They broke into my home even though everyone knows we haven't done anything wrong, he says.

"Nice house"

Donald Trump went on to say that the crackdown has generated "five billion dollars worth of free publicity" and was referring to the election campaign.

He also said that the luxury house Mar-a-Lago provides "good viewing figures".

- People say it's a nice house.

If it wasn't nice, they would probably let it be, but it gives good viewership with such a nice house, said the former president.

A total of six legal investigations against Donald Trump are currently underway.

According to Ginna Lindberg, head of foreign affairs at Ekot and US commentator on Sveriges Radio, it is precisely the Mar-a-Lago documents and the one about his possible involvement in the storming of the Capitol that can bring the most serious penalties.

"May have violated the Espionage Act"

- The Mar-a-Lago investigation, I would say, is currently the heaviest as it is the one that can potentially result in the most severe punishment.

It's about Trump taking a lot of documents down to the residence in Florida from his time as president, and it's something that violates the laws on how to handle government documents, says Ekot's USA commentator Ginna Lindberg in SVT's Morgonstudion.

- In addition, some of the documents he brought with him are considered to be so sensitive that he may have violated the Espionage Act, she says.

According to Lindberg, it is unique that a former president of the United States is suspected of so many crimes.

At the same time, there has been silence from the Republican party leadership.

- The party ends up behind Donald Trump.

And the Republican electorate is shutting down in a big way.

When you look at the opinion polls, it is a majority of American voters who believe Trump's unfounded accusations of electoral fraud, she says.
