Release on bail of a Lebanese woman who stormed a bank to get her money

A lawyer for a Lebanese woman who stormed a Beirut bank last month to recover part of her savings said she was released on bail after turning herself in to authorities weeks after her escape.

The investigative judge, Sally Hafez, 28, ordered the payment of a guarantee of one million Lebanese pounds (25 dollars), and also ordered a six-month travel ban because of her storming the bank on September 14, which made her a popular hero in a country where hundreds of thousands of savings are frozen in banks. .

Sally said the amount she was asking for was to pay for her sister's cancer treatment.

Sally Hafez was able to withdraw about $12,000 from her account when she stormed the bank and threatened employees with what later turned out to be a fake pistol.
