A dog owner found oblong-shaped "meatballs" at the Niederursel subway station that could be poison bait.

An investigation is still pending, the police said on Thursday.

The subway station is near the Riedberg district boundary, where dogs were poisoned with similar-looking bait three weeks ago in Bonifatiuspark.

Seven animals died in a short time.

The police advise being careful when walking dogs around the Niederursel subway station and on Riedberg.

Dog owners are asked to refrain from speculating as it has led to uncertainty and fear.

The bait seized three weeks ago is being examined by the State Criminal Police Office.

Several organizations have offered rewards for information leading to the arrest of the perpetrator.

According to the police, it happens again and again that dogs are poisoned, but an unusually large number of animals were killed on the Riedberg.
