In the city hall in Malmö, the Social Democrats, the Green Party and the Liberals presented their joint program statement for the mandate period 2022-2026.

The red-green majority in the municipal council failed to reach an agreement.

Despite that, Katrin Stjernfeldt Jammeh (S) was satisfied with the new minority coalition.

- We see that stability is required and we need to push for continued development despite the turbulent situation we are in with a war on the horizon, she says.

The taxes decided

It is the taxes that stand in the way of the red-greens.

The Social Democrats believe that the Left Party, which also includes the Green Party, has set "ultimate" demands for tax increases for each year.

- It doesn't work in the long term.

Neither for the residents of Malmö, nor for the welfare activities to build funding on annual tax increases.

We do not see that it is serious or sustainable, says Katrin Stjernfeldt Jammeh.

The Left Party: Not true

Emma-Lina Johansson (V), on the other hand, believes that what Stjernfeldt Jammeh says is not true, but that they wanted to see a decision on tax increases this year.

- We have compromised quite a lot to get down to the tax increase we proposed for this year.

If we do it this year, we will have a higher income base for the coming budget year, she says.

Are you disappointed?

- Yes it's me.

The Social Democrats get six municipal councilors, the Liberals, who governed with the Social Democrats in 2028-2022, lose two of their municipal councilors and keep two.

The Green Party gets two municipal councillors.
