A former police officer in Thailand opened fire at a daycare center, killing at least 38 people, including 22 children.

The suspect also killed his own family and took his own life.

Yesterday (6th) daytime, 34-year-old Panya Kamrab entered a daycare in Bua Lamphu province, Nong Thailand, and shot and wielded a weapon.



At least 38 people have died, including 22 children who were sleeping.



There was a teacher who was eight months pregnant, a two-year-old child, and a teacher who died while holding the child.

Armed with a shotgun and a pistol, the suspect Panya opened fire to police officers and passersby.

He had a drug-related trial in the morning of the incident, and it is known that he was intoxicated at the time of the afternoon crime.



Panya went to her home and shot and killed his wife and son as well, local police said.



Thais are allowed to own firearms with a permit, and as of 2019, a total of 1,292 people were killed in shootings.



The embassy in Thailand said there had been no evidence of Korean casualties so far.
