A 26-year-old man appeared on Wednesday before the Montluçon criminal court (Allier) for an impressive series of traffic offenses and offences.

The facts go back to the night of Monday to Tuesday, shortly after 1 a.m.;

Officers from the anti-crime squad first caught the defendant running a red light.

They then triggered their flashing light but the motorist tried to escape them by taking a prohibited direction.

They managed to catch up with the young man who struggled, insulted them and refused to submit to the alcohol test.

One year in prison

The latter was finally prosecuted for eight offences: driving under the influence of an alcoholic state, refusal to submit to the alcohol test, refusal to comply, death threats against two persons holding public authority, insults against the police, resisting arrest, crossing a red light and driving in the wrong direction.

He was sentenced to two years in prison, including one year suspended, with a committal order.

He will also have to pay 500 euros to each of the police officers in damages, and pay two fines of 100 euros.

His license has been canceled and he will have to wait six months before he can take it again.
