The Swedish security service announced the completion of an investigation in the area of leaks on the strings of the Nord Stream gas pipeline system.

The department said the inspection of the scene reinforced suspicions of "gross sabotage" at these facilities.

From the publication of the Swedish service it follows that next to the pipelines "explosions occurred, as a result of which significant damage was caused to the gas pipelines."

It is noted that the cordon previously installed at the scene has been removed.

“In the course of the investigation, certain seizures were carried out on the spot ... As part of the ongoing work, the seized material will be processed and analyzed.

Further investigation will show whether someone can be suspected of committing this crime, and then brought to trial, ”the message says.

Recall that on September 26, significant gas leaks were recorded on three lines of the Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 highways near the Danish island of Bornholm.

Nord Stream AG subsequently claimed that the pipeline leak was caused by physical damage.

At the same time, the operator company noted that they would be able to start assessing the damage only after obtaining permission from the authorities, stabilizing the pressure and stopping the leak.

On October 4, the press service of Nord Stream AG stated that the pressure in the line had stabilized, but there was still no access to the damaged sections due to the lack of necessary permits.

Shortly after the incident, the Kremlin stated that the destruction at Nord Stream could be the result of sabotage.

However, the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov urged to wait for the results of the investigation.

Based on the materials of the Prosecutor General's Office, a criminal case was initiated on an act of international terrorism.

In the meantime, a number of European politicians said that the gas pipelines allegedly could have been blown up by Russia.

This point of view, in particular, was expressed by the Minister of Defense of Estonia Hanno Pevkur.

His British colleague Ben Wallace, in turn, called for Moscow not to be allowed to investigate the incidents.

Against this background, the Russian Foreign Ministry recalled the statement of the head of the White House, Joe Biden, who in February 2022 announced his readiness to “end” Nord Stream 2.

Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova urged Washington to answer the question of whether the United States realized its threat.

In addition, Nikolai Patrushev, Secretary of the Russian Security Council, said that the sabotage at Nord Stream is beneficial for the United States: “This is nothing more than an act of international terrorism, the consequences of which can be significant for the population of Europe.”

On Thursday, October 6, Dmitry Peskov told reporters that the Russian side had received information through diplomatic channels that Moscow was not going to be involved in the investigation of the emergency, and regret was expressed.

“We do not consider it possible to conduct any objective investigations without the participation of the Russian side,” Peskov concluded.

Maria Zakharova also spoke about the situation.

According to her, the desire to prevent Russia from investigating the Nord Stream incident indicates an intention to hide the circumstances of the incident.

“This is a classic of the genre.

This is what first of all, even before the analysis of the motive, says that, therefore, there is something to hide.

They don’t let the owner ... to investigate, which means they are hiding something from him, ”Zakharova said during a briefing.

Similarly, she said, Malaysia was not allowed to investigate the crash of Boeing flight MH17 in eastern Ukraine in 2014.
