North Korea fired a ballistic missile towards the Sea of Japan (East Sea for Seoul).

This was reported by the South Korean agency Yonhap.

A new provocation, therefore, at the most delicate moment for that geographical area.

According to the South Korean General Staff, today's launch involves an unspecified ballistic missile, likely a response to the move of the US nuclear-powered aircraft carrier "USS Ronald Reagan" to the East Sea for an exercise with the South Korean Navy and trilateral exercises with the Japan.

The launch of the new missile was the sixth in 12 days and the first since North Korea launched an intermediate-range ballistic missile that flew over Japan and crashed into the Pacific Ocean on Tuesday.

This last missile also fell into the sea.
