The military authorities expressed regret that the Hyunmoo-2C ballistic missile, which was launched as a countermeasure against the provocation of North Korea's intermediate-range ballistic missile, flew abnormally and caused a camel accident on the 5th.



A military official met with reporters today and said, "I know that the local residents were very surprised, and it is very regrettable." .



"So far, no damage to private houses, civilians, or people has been confirmed," he said.



According to the military, South Korea and the United States planned to conduct a joint surface-to-surface missile firing drill from late yesterday night to early this morning as a countermeasure to North Korea's missile provocation.



The South Korean military's Hyunmoo-2C and two Atacms, and the USFK's two Atacms were mobilized for firing.



The plan was to fire the South Korean military's Hyunmoo-2C first, and then fire the rest sequentially.



One Hyunmoo-2C was fired yesterday late at night, but immediately after launch, it flew abnormally and fell into a nearby base.



The military took additional safety measures after the accident and fired the Atacms around 1 am.



A military official explained, "After the accident, the missile propellant burned and caused a fire, the warhead did not explode, and other details are still under investigation."



When asked if he had reported to the Minister of Defense and the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff after the accident, he said, "
