Regarding the situation in Ukraine, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that the Ukrainian ambassador and several staff members who had been evacuated to neighboring Poland were returned to the capital Kyiv and resumed embassy operations from the 5th.

In response to Russia's military invasion of Ukraine, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has evacuated the staff of the embassy in Kyiv, the capital, to Poland, a neighboring country, and has continued operations such as providing information to Japanese people staying there.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has comprehensively reviewed the fact that G7 countries except Japan have resumed embassy operations in Kyiv and the local security situation. It was announced that the embassy will resume operations from the 5th.

For the time being, the staff will be kept to a minimum, and their work will be limited to information gathering and contacting and coordinating with Ukraine and other countries. We are going to deal with it.

On the other hand, the liaison office in Lviv, western Ukraine, was closed as the embassy resumed operations in Kyiv.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will continue to monitor the situation on the ground.

We are considering expanding embassy operations in Kyiv.
