Under threat of a vote of no confidence, Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen (S) called a parliamentary election.

On Tuesday, November 1, the election will be held and Frederiksen opens for a government across the bloc border.

- We want a broad government with parties on both sides of the political middle, says Frederiksen.

The background is about the so-called mink scandal in Denmark - when 15-17 million mink during the pandemic.

Fredriksen had seven months left until the deadline

Denmark does not have a fixed election day, but it is the prime minister - for this term Mette Frederiksen (S) - who announces when the election will be held.

Normally, it should take place three to four weeks before the election day.

However, a general election must be held no later than four years after the last election.

For this term, the deadline expired on June 4, 2023.
