Lars Sjögren was an artist from Karlstad (1931-2016).

He was primarily a painter, but also drew and made graphics.

His art was abstract, often with a calligraphic painting.

Something that caused him to sometimes be called "the Chinese from Karlstad" because his paintings sometimes resembled calligraphy.

"Mot Rymd" was created by Lars Sjögren in the early 1970s.

It was bought by the then Hypoteksföreningen, which had the art placed on a wall of the building where they had their office on Drottninggatan.

When that building was demolished, the artwork was moved to the old Domus property in Tingvallagatan.

There it sat on the wall until the department store burned down in 1999. The work was saved, but did not come up to the public again until today.
