Almost two weeks ago, three people from Italy were hunting grouse together in Vuoggatjålme, 10 kilometers northwest of Arjeplog, when one of the hunters was seriously shot.

- I was not there when the accident occurred, but have been told by the others in the party how the accident happened.

It was when one of the hunters was going to pick up a shot bird, that his dog jumped up at him and reached for the trigger, says Aldo Silva.

Met at a distance of six meters

A preliminary investigation is underway under the criminal classification of causing bodily harm or grossly causing bodily harm.

According to Aldo Silva, the hunter was hit in the leg from a distance of six meters and he believes that the incident was an accident.

- The hunter holding the rifle, the injured person and another person were in complete panic.

There was no mobile coverage and the gunshot victim lost a lot of blood, says Aldo Silva.

Norwegians saved their lives

Silva says that you never usually meet other hunters in the area, but that by chance two people from Norway appeared.

- They probably saved the life of the man with the gunshot wound.

They had first aid equipment with them and were able to alert the ambulance helicopter, says the hunting guide.

Treated - but doing well

Today, the 55-year-old man is doing well according to the circumstances, but is still in Sunderby Hospital.

In the video, Aldo Silva talks about the hunting accident in Arjeplogsfjällen that could have ended badly and what caused it.
