Already last spring, the announcement came that the budget would not be kept due to more expensive food and transport costs, as well as crises in the rest of the world.

The meal unit, which is responsible for the meals at Örebro municipality's schools and in care for the elderly, has a budget of SEK 72 million, and now a deficit of SEK nine million is expected this year.

- I have discussed with the nutrition director and know that they work very efficiently and smartly all the time.

They meet our sustainability goals and we don't want to lower that quality, says Susanne Lindholm (KD), chairman of the children and education program committee.

There is more to do

Seasonal crops and keeping an eye on daily vegetable prices are two areas she highlights as examples when it comes to working economically.

In the clip, you can hear her tell more about the deficit.
