North Korea has launched a medium-range ballistic missile into the East Sea, the Joint Chiefs of Staff said.

The Joint Chiefs of Staff said today (4th) that it detected a medium-range ballistic missile that was launched from the area of Mupyong-ri, Jagang Province, North Korea around 7:23 a.m. and flew eastward and passed over Japan.

Our military authorities are analyzing parameters such as range, altitude, and speed.

The Japanese government also announced that an object believed to be a ballistic missile launched by North Korea passed through the Japanese archipelago and was dropped into the Pacific Ocean.

It is the first time in five years since 2017 that a missile launched by North Korea has passed through the Japanese archipelago, and the Japanese government has issued an evacuation order to residents of some areas in Hokkaido and Aomori to "evacuate in buildings or underground."

This launch is North Korea's fifth ballistic missile launch in the last ten days, meaning that the missile was launched once every two days.

It is speculated that North Korea is testing and evaluating several types of missiles, such as the North Korean version of the Iskander, the North Korean version of the Atacms, and the super-large multiple rocket launcher, while slightly varying the flight altitude, distance, and speed in recent missile launches.
