Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky was furious after Tesla CEO Elon Musk proposed an end to the war under UN supervision in Ukraine-occupied territory, which Russia had announced unilaterally to annex, Reuters, AFP news agency reported on the 3rd (local time). reported.

Musk, the world's richest man, tweeted on the same day that Russia held a referendum under the supervision of the United Nations in the four occupied territories in Ukraine that Russia annexed last week after a referendum to decide whether or not to annex the country according to the will of the people. After coming up with a plan to end it, he encouraged his more than 100 million followers to vote for or against.

Musk explained the plan he had proposed: "If that is the will of the people, Russia must withdraw."

Russia held a referendum for five days in four regions, including the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) and Luhansk People's Republic (LPR) in eastern Ukraine from the 23rd of last month, and the southern Zaporiza and Kherson provinces. declared, and annexed the region to Russia.

The West, however, has rejected the vote, saying it was illegal and coercive.

Musk's end-of-war plan also included formal recognition of the Crimean Peninsula annexed by Russia in 2014 as Russian territory, Ukraine guaranteeing water supply to Crimea, and neutralizing Ukraine.

Ukrainian President Zelensky reacted immediately to Musk's proposal to salvage.

President Zelensky expressed his displeasure by posting a question on Twitter, "Which @Elon Musk do you prefer, between Musk for Ukraine and Musk for Russia?"

President Kitanas Nauseda of Lithuania, one of the Baltic countries that has been actively criticizing Russia's invasion of Ukraine, also joined the criticism.

President Nauseda tweeted: "Dear Mr Musk, when someone tries to steal your Tesla wheels, even if both sides voted in favor of the act, the person trying to steal cannot be the legitimate owner of the vehicle or wheel." to pinch Musk's suggestion.

The outgoing Ukrainian ambassador to Germany, Andrii Melnik, did not hide his outrage by tweeting, "My diplomatic response to you, Musk, is to 'shut it off'".

Ukrainian presidential aide Mikhail Podolyak argued that a better peace plan would be for Ukraine to reclaim its territories, including Crimea, to demilitarize and denuclearize Russia, and to bring war criminals to international courts.

Following the backlash, Musk tweeted, "Then let the people living in Donbas and Crimea decide whether they are part of Russia or part of Ukraine."

Musk went on to say he doesn't mind the unpopularity of his proposal, but that his only concern is the lives of millions of people who could be killed unnecessarily in this war.

"Russia has three times the population of Ukraine, so if an all-out war breaks out, there is no chance that Ukraine will win. If the Ukrainians are willing, seek peace."
