Will the next PS congress be held from January 27 to 29 in Marseille?

This is what the party leadership will propose this Tuesday evening, during a national party council, she announced in a press release.

"This choice was obvious to us," said PS spokesman Pierre Jouvet.

"Marseille is politically, around its mayor Benoît Payan, the symbol of our ability to win when the left is united", he explained, and "it is the symbol of our ability to change people's lives also by concrete measures on a daily basis”.

He also underlines that the last congress of the PS which had taken place in Marseilles, “it was a hundred years ago”.

The Nupes at the heart of the debates

The alliance of the left Nupes, between LFI, the PS, EELV and the PCF will be at the heart of the next congress.

While Olivier Faure, a supporter of this union, does not hide his desire to run for a new term as first secretary, 150 socialist executives, including many close to the mayor of Paris Anne Hidalgo and the president of the Occitanie region Carole Delga , rather hostile to the Nupes agreement and the hegemony of LFI in this alliance, signed a platform on Sunday calling for "refoundations" of the party and the left.

These signatories are aiming for a "third way" between Olivier Faure and his historical opponent Hélène Geoffroy, the mayor of Vaulx-en-Velin.

The latter, who has been criticizing the erasure of the PS for years, also unveiled her project on Saturday to "refound, bring together, govern".
