After the alleged sabotage of the Nord Stream gas pipelines in the Baltic Sea, Danish police said they had received reports of unauthorized drone flights near gas fields in the North Sea.

The Danish sighting follows very little after similar sightings recorded on the Norwegian side of the Baltic.

"We had reports of drones in the North Sea over the weekend," a police spokesman told AFP.

According to the specialist publication Danish Offshore Industry,

drones have been observed near the Roar gas field

, operated by the French group Total Energies, more than 200 km off the west coast of Denmark.

This is the second time in a week that such incidents have been reported.

On Thursday, the daily Ekstra Bladet reported "unauthorized" drone activity on the Halfdan B field

, also operated by the French giant.

By allegedly sabotaging the gas pipelines linking Russia to Germany in its Exclusive Economic Zone, Denmark has strengthened security around its energy infrastructure.

Norway followed suit, seeing its oil and gas facilities as a potential target.

To justify the increased security in the area, Norwegian authorities have cited an increasing number of drone sightings near oil installations.
