"Given the seriousness of the insecurity situation in Nantes", the minister and the mayor "have agreed on a common plan to strengthen resources", they write in a joint press release.

The Minister of the Interior notably "decided the temporary assignment of a mobile force unit", ie "about 70 agents", from October 10.

It “will be particularly affected in the city center and in the sensitive” districts of the city.

The Minister also recalled that a new CRS unit, provided for in the future planning and orientation and programming law of the Ministry of the Interior (Lopmi), will be installed in Nantes in 2023. Of the 200 police officers who make up this unit, 80 will be "specifically dedicated to the Nantes conurbation".

Gérald Darmanin has also undertaken to "finance up to 50%" the installation of cameras in the city.

While Johanna Rolland has pledged to reach "250 cameras" installed in the city by the end of her term, compared to 146 today.

The mayor also promised to "recruit 50 additional municipal police officers" who will work "until 2 am".

At the end of September, the city of Nantes was the scene of several miscellaneous events, including the rape of a woman in the city center for which two Sudanese, in a regular situation, were imprisoned.
