After several weeks of demonstrations in the country, the lively protest continues in Tehran.

Faced with morality police and repression, US President Joe Biden promised sanctions against the Iranian regime on Monday.

In northern Iran, the situation is still as chaotic as described by a resident contacted by Europe 1.

TESTIMONY

In the face of the regime's repression, the protests of the Iranians do not weaken.

In Iran, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei accuses the United States and Israel of being behind the protest movement sparked by the death of Mahsa Amini.

This is the first time that the Supreme Guide of the Islamic Republic has spoken after the death of this young Iranian woman, arrested by the morality police for a badly worn veil.

In the country, protests continue, including in some universities.

In Amol, in northern Iran, Siavash, contacted by Europe 1, describes a situation that is still very complicated.

Iranians who demand the end of the regime

Despite Internet shutdowns, this member of the resistance managed to send his testimony via encrypted messaging.

"Traders are closing their shops, students are taking to the streets. This is the situation in most provinces. Everyone is upset. Everyone is angry," he describes.

At first, Iranians demonstrated for women's rights.

They are now demanding an end to the regime, even if it means risking their lives.

"Khamenei's regime is killing people. It has killed many young people, but people continue to demonstrate and chant slogans against Khamenei and Raisi, calling them dictators and executioners," continues Siavash.

Nearly a hundred people have died since the protests began, according to a local NGO.

But Siavash assures him: "Even in the event of a humanitarian disaster or genocide, the people will win".
