In this regard, the British energy regulator noted that some gas-fired power plants may go bankrupt.
Journalists speculated that the announcement would heighten fears of planned power outages as the country relied on gas-fired power plants for electricity supplies.
British Prime Minister Liz Truss said earlier that she would lift the ban on gas production by hydraulic fracturing in the country.
She also said that the UK will issue more than 100 licenses for oil and gas production in the North Sea.
