Russia's Duma agrees to annex four Ukrainian regions

Russia's lower house of parliament on Monday approved laws on the annexation of four Ukrainian regions to Russia, after referendums denounced by Ukraine and the West.

None of the Russian State Duma deputies opposed the decisions aimed at formally incorporating the Kherson, Donetsk, Luhansk and Zaporizhia regions into Russia.

"The decision was taken unanimously. There are 89 entities in the Russian Federation," State Duma speaker Vyacheslav Volodin wrote in a post on Telegram with a map of Russia including the four regions as well as Crimea, which Russia annexed in 2014.
