The construction has been debated since the start and both SD and M have previously said no to the red-green government's billion-dollar investment.

According to Ekot, the project is estimated to cost up to SEK 400 billion.

Work on the tracks is ongoing, although they are not expected to be ready for many years.

Nowadays, all parties on the right are against the construction, reports Sweden's radio.

On Monday, they filed the motion which is a response to the transitional government's letter on national planning for transport infrastructure according to Ekot.

The motion contains extensive criticism of the project.

It is written, among other things, that an investment in high-speed rail "risks displacing other important investments".

Concern among train companies

The train companies SJ and MTRX have previously expressed concern about what the change of power could mean.

The companies believe that the measures previously put forward by M and SD "are not sufficient".

- Politicians must be able to make both short-term investments, such as maintenance and four-track, and long-term investments, such as new main lines for high-speed trains, says Filip Johansson, CEO of MTRX.

SJ has also previously expressed concern that the policy will repeat old mistakes and prioritize road and air traffic over train traffic.

Something that is believed to have led to train traffic in Sweden today lacking its capacity.

The Swedish Transport Administration has previously told SVT:

- We are working according to the assignments we receive from the government, but as long as we do not receive new information, the work on the main lines will continue, he says, Trafikverket's press manager Bengt Olsson has previously stated.
