South African President Cyril Ramaphosa and his wife, Tshepo Motsepe, will be in the UK from 22-24 November for a three-day state visit, the first organized by King Charles III since his accession to the throne.

King Charles has visited South Africa on several occasions

since his first tour of the country, which included Pretoria, Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town, in 1997.

His last trip dates back to 2011, when together with his queen consort, later Duchess of Cornwall, he carried out engagements including a climate change speech at the University of Cape Town

and a visit to the Black Rhino Range expansion project in Phinda Game Reserve.

They also attended the

Nelson Mandela Foundation

, where they were received by Graca Machel, the former president's widow.

The visit of South African President Ramaphosa comes as he faces money laundering charges that threaten his position at the heart of Africa's most developed economy

The president has denied the allegations, which include illegally detaining about four million dollars in cash on his ranch in northern South Africa and covering up the theft in an attempt to conceal the money's existence.
