In the Yvelines, it's a party among the supporters of Jean-Noël Barrot, vice-president of the Modem.

The Minister Delegate in charge of the Digital Transition and Telecommunications arrived on Sunday well ahead of the first round of the partial legislative election in the 2nd constituency of the department, convened after the resignation in August of his deputy.

With 42.29% of the votes cast, Jean-Noël Barrot is ahead of candidate Nupes Maïté Carrive-Bedouani (18.60%) and candidate LR Pascal Thévenot (17.80%).

In this constituency which includes Versailles-Sud, Vélizy-Villacoublay or Chevreuse, participation reached only 26.67%, against 58.36% in the first round last June.

MP since 2017

Entering the National Assembly in 2017, Jean-Noël Barrot was re-elected in June with 64.27% of the vote in the second round, almost six points better than five years earlier.

Appointed to the government, he gave up his seat to his deputy Anne Grignon on August 4.

But she announced her resignation on August 12.

An appeal had indeed been filed against his election by one of his political opponents, on the basis of the Electoral Code which prohibits a "replacement of a member of a parliamentary assembly" from presenting himself as a substitute for a deputy. .

Anne Grignon was the candidate in second position on the LREM list during the senatorial elections of September 2017 in the Yvelines.

This list having won only one seat, she would have replaced her elected running mate in the event of resignation or death.

The minister delegate this time took as substitute Anne Bergantz, elected municipal official in Lévis-Saint-Nom.

It is the latter who would sit at the Palais-Bourbon in the event of the re-election of Jean-Noël Barrot, who would remain minister.

The second round takes place next Sunday, October 9.
