On Monday, the church carried out the first racial risk assessment with the help of a crane truck.

- There is some loose material that must be removed.

But the frame is quite intact, there is no risk of erosion on the ruin itself, says Mats Lindblad, cemetery and property manager at the Swedish Church.

The next step in the race risk assessment is to dismantle the loose parts with another crane, which may not happen until next week.

Technical examination is pending

It was on Saturday the third of September that the people of Viås saw the village church from the 1860s in flames.

How the church started to burn has not yet been established, and the police have not been able to start a technical investigation because there is a racial risk.

The case is waiting on the table of Marcus Gustavsson, the head of the group for serious crimes.

- It is significantly more difficult when so much time passes, of course, but we also cannot endanger the health of the colleagues who will be doing the examination.

Is there even any point in the police doing a technical investigation when more than a month has passed since the fire?

- It is very possible that it is not.

I will talk to the church now and then we will make an assessment, says Marcus Gustavsson.
