On October 16, 1972, farmer Sven Sjögren was reported missing to the police in Visby.

Today, 50 years later, his case remains unsolved and no body has been found.

In recent years, Stig Larsson, who lived next door to Sven Sjögren as a child, has dedicated himself wholeheartedly to trying to solve Gotland's biggest ever murder mystery.

After placing an ad in the local newspaper and starting a Facebook page, he received many new tips.

In the documentary What happened to Sjögren?

he tries to reconstruct the clues to get answers.

- What really happened, no one knows, man, I've given it my all to find out the truth, says Stig Larsson.

New searches

The case has also received attention through podcast creators Urban Gärdek and Tobias von Braun, who went through various details of the disappearance.

Through the podcast, they received tips that the body could have been dumped in a landfill in Etelhem on Gotland.

Together with Stig Larsson, an excavation of the site was organized in September 2022.

Pieces of bone and a green overall were found and have been handed over to the police for DNA analysis.

Much suggests, however, that the finds should not have belonged to Sven Sjögren.
