According to the Bulgarian President, the issue of Ukraine's accession to NATO requires discussion between all member countries of the alliance.

In addition, he stressed, at the moment, Ukraine's accession to the bloc could involve him in a direct clash with Russia.

"The decision on Ukraine's accession to NATO should be made only after clear parameters for a peaceful resolution of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine have been developed, which will be accepted by these states," Radev was quoted by TASS.

On September 30, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that Ukraine is applying to join the North Atlantic Alliance in an expedited manner.

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that the alliance intends to focus on helping Kyiv defend itself, and the decision on the membership of any state is taken by all 30 allies unanimously.
