The Integrated Transport Center of the Department of Municipalities and Transport in Abu Dhabi called on parents who are keen to drive their children to schools with their own cars to adhere to all instructions and procedures that ensure safe driving in the vicinity and areas of schools, in order to ensure the highest levels of security and raise the level of safety and security in the process of transporting students He warned that some parents would randomly line up in the middle of the road leading to the school to drop off or ride their children, threatening their safety and security and causing a traffic jam.

The center, in a guiding campaign launched under the title “Your children are in safe hands”, gave nine main tips that would help students’ families to drive safely in the vicinity of schools: The second is to ensure that children under 10 years of age are seated in the back seats of the car, as well as the importance of adhering to and adhering to the places designated for dropping and riding students, in addition to being careful to avoid standing in the wrong places, which may cause the closure of emergency exits or pedestrian crossings.

It also included a list of safe driving tips in the vicinity of schools, and the need to abide by giving pedestrians their right to cross the road safely, as well as not to park in the places designated for parking cars for people of determination, and not to use the horn continuously and annoyingly, and finally not to stop at the places designated for the entry and exit of school buses. .

The center stressed its continuous interest in providing all means that guarantee students and the various elements of the educational process a safe school transportation throughout the school year, in a manner that ensures their transportation to and from school with ease and comfort, noting that it periodically implements a number of awareness workshops for school bus drivers and supervisors in each of the following: The city of Abu Dhabi, the city of Al Ain, and the Al Dhafra region are under the umbrella of the Joint Committee for Traffic Safety, which is chaired by the Department of Municipalities and Transport, and whose membership includes: the Integrated Transport Center, the General Command of Abu Dhabi Police and the Abu Dhabi Health Department.

The Integrated Transport Center, in cooperation with the General Command of Abu Dhabi Police and a number of relevant strategic partners, carried out the workshops as part of its keenness to provide the highest safety standards for the school transport process, to promote a culture of traffic safety and to maintain the security and safety of students who use school buses in their daily commute to and from school.

He explained that the workshops and educational lectures he has organized since the beginning of the current academic year, on traffic safety in Arabic, English and Urdu, included 400 drivers and supervisors in school buses, during which videos were shown about wrong behaviors and how to avoid them, and traffic rules were introduced to avoid traffic accidents, damage and losses. resulting from these accidents, as well as promoting compliance with safe driving standards.

The center stated that these workshops included launching initiatives, most notably broadcasting awareness messages and highlighting the roles and responsibilities of drivers and supervisors, in order to ensure the safety of students during transportation to and from school by increasing drivers’ awareness and the need for them to abide by traffic safety rules and avoid driving while tired, not to be distracted by anything other than the road, and the importance of Conducting a periodic check of all safety systems on the bus, surveillance cameras, and making sure that there is a first aid kit on the bus, and applying the safety procedures to be followed when leaving the bus. 

It is necessary to commit to giving pedestrians their right to cross the road safely, and not to stop at the places where buses enter.
