At 7:00 on October 2, local time in Mexico, according to the Mexican National Meteorological Service (SMN), Hurricane Orlene continued to strengthen and has been officially upgraded to a Category 4 hurricane.

The center of the storm is currently about 175 kilometers (175 kilometers) southwest of the state of Jalisco on Mexico's west coast.

Its maximum sustained winds reached about 215 kilometers per hour and it is currently moving north at 11 kilometers per hour relative to the ground.

  Hurricane Olena is expected to make landfall in the Mexican state of Sinaloa at around 3 a.m. on the 3rd.

The hurricane has brought heavy rainfall to the states of Jalisco, Colima, Nayarit, Sinaloa, Michoacán and Guerrero on the west coast of Mexico.

  The Mexican Civil Defense Department has launched corresponding plans and measures to reduce the impact of the hurricane and reduce casualties and property losses.
