On campus, students are protesting, and security forces are said to have deployed tear gas and shots were also heard from the scene, Reuters reports, citing social media and state media.

Protests against the regime are ongoing in large parts of Iran.

The spark that sparked the wave of protests was the death of 22-year-old Mahsa Zhina Amini, which occurred after she was detained by Iranian morality police for not wearing the mandatory veil correctly.

A total of 133 people have been killed so far during the protests in Iran, according to the human rights organization Iran Human Rights (IHR).

The figure includes 41 people who were reportedly killed in a single incident in Zahedan in the province of Sistan and Baluchistan in southeastern Iran on Friday.
