Pope Francis called on the presidents of Russia and Ukraine to end the conflict

“My appeals are directed to the President of Russia, I beg him to stop, including out of love for his own people, this spiral of violence and death.

… I also call on the President of Ukraine to be open to a series of peace proposals,” TASS quoted Francis as saying.

He also called on the rest of the world community to make every effort to end the conflict and prevent escalation.

Earlier, the Pontiff said that the West went on the wrong path and now it cannot be called a "role model."
