 Liz Truss, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, admits to having gone too fast, in an interview on the BBC this Sunday, October 2, 2022. Panic has gripped the country since the announcement last week of her mini-budget .

The Bank of England had to intervene urgently, but the leader of the Conservatives remains convinced by her plan.

Reduce the tax rate on top earners to stimulate growth.

Liz Truss does not flinch, but admits that this decision was taken by the Minister of the Economy without prior discussion with the other members of the government.

I want to tell people that I understand their concern with what happened this week.

I admit it, we should have prepared the ground better.

I have learned.

I will make sure that in the future we do a better job of preparing.

Nor does it rule out a cut in public spending, while the country is going through a crisis: record inflation, rising interest rates and the cost of energy.

I think we need to increase the size of the cake.

We have had two decades of relatively weak growth.

Conservative Party heavyweight and former cabinet minister Michael Gove described the Prime Minister's announcements as "

The Conservatives' Congress begins this Sunday in Birmingham.

Liz Truss promises to win " 

the hearts and minds

 " of her MPs.

While the party is rock bottom in the polls and in her own camp, the Prime Minister is even less popular than her predecessor Boris Johnson.
