Nablus

- The Israeli occupation forces have closed since Sunday morning the city of Nablus and its southern and eastern villages in particular, as clashes erupted between Palestinian youths and the occupation soldiers.

The occupation army began closing the city in the northern West Bank and its villages after a shooting attack by Palestinian resistance fighters towards a settler's vehicle and bus near the main "Beit Dajan" road leading to the "Elon Moreh" settlement, east of Nablus.

Immediately after the operation, the occupation soldiers began storming the area and completely encircling it. They closed the military checkpoint set up by the occupation army at the entrance to the town of Beit Furik, east of Nablus. The soldiers also stormed the nearby village of Salem, and raided a number of houses there.

Eyewitnesses told Al Jazeera Net that the Israeli soldiers, along with a large number of the military "apologist" unit, raided the Al-Dhahra area in the village of Salem and stormed more than 10 houses, some of them uninhabited, and smashed their contents and tampered with them, in addition to taking off and vandalizing their doors.

The occupation soldiers, including snipers, also raided houses and other buildings, took over their roofs and turned them into military observation points.

Injuries and closures

Meanwhile, the occupation military bulldozers quickly closed the agricultural roads leading to the plain of Salem village, and also closed its entrance with the road leading to the neighboring village of Beit Furik, and the occupation soldiers began searching for any traces that would enable them to reach the perpetrators of the operation.

Meanwhile, violent confrontations took place between dozens of young men and the occupation soldiers at the entrance to the two villages.

As a result, at least 40 civilians suffocated with tear gas, and the occupation army arrested 4 young demonstrators near the town of Beit Furik.

Ahmed Jibril, director of ambulance and emergency at the Red Crescent Society in Nablus, told Al Jazeera Net that the occupation soldiers beat the medical staff, injuring two ambulance officers with various injuries and holding them for about half an hour before releasing them.

He stated that the confrontations are still continuing, especially with the continued closure of the eastern region of Nablus near the site of the operation, and the strengthening of search operations in search of the shooters.

In the same regard, the occupation army closed most of the military checkpoints surrounding the city of Nablus, and tightened its military measures on other checkpoints, especially the Hawara checkpoints and the streets surrounding the settlement of “Yitzhar” and the “Al-Murba’a” road in the south of the city, and the Masoudiya checkpoint in the north.

Rebels belonging to the "Areen Al-Aswad" resistance group in Nablus had opened fire at settlers near the bypass road of "Beit Dajan" and "Beit Furik" east of Nablus around eight in the morning, and the group claimed the operation in a statement received by Al Jazeera Net.
