A 6.0-magnitude earthquake struck northern Sumatra, Indonesia, killing one person, the Indonesian Meteorological, Climate and Geologic Agency said.



According to the Korea Climate and Geological Administration, a magnitude 6.0 earthquake occurred at 2:28 a.m. on the 1st (local time) in an area 15 km west of North Tapanulli County on the island of Sumatra.



There have been 53 aftershocks since the earthquake.



The Korea Climate and Geospatial Administration said that one person was killed and nine others were injured in the earthquake, and residents were evacuated.



Indonesian daily Compass reported that dozens of people were injured, and emergency tents were installed in the emergency room of a local general hospital filled with the injured.



The earthquake also damaged many houses, school buildings and terminals.
