Even in Västernorrland there is great concern about winter, and concerns about electricity prices, rent and material costs.

The county museum in Härnösand is an open-air museum with large premises and many buildings.

In addition, the museum does not have a large income because admission is free.

- We are worried and it is something we have been talking about for a long time, says Jenny Samuelsson, county museum director in Västernorrland.

Risk of austerity measures

When the industry organization Sweden's museums asks its members about the situation ahead of winter, just over one in ten are considering reducing their opening hours.

Just as many are considering lowering their climate ambitions.

Two out of three museum organizations say they are introducing austerity measures, but plan to keep operations going.

There are still no such plans at the county museum in Västernorrland, but Jenny Samuelsson says that even today it is difficult to complete its entire mission.

Further savings due to skyrocketing electricity prices would hit the business hard.

What does the plan look like going forward?
