Cuba was hit hard by Hurricane Ian on Wednesday.

At least 11 million were left without power and at least three people died.

Ian then wreaked havoc in Florida and reportedly at least 32 deaths were reported in connection with the hurricane.

Households without power

Early Friday afternoon local time, Ian swept across South Carolina.

Rain lashed trees and power lines and some areas were flooded.

A pier in the town of Pawleys Island collapsed and floated away.

At least two million customers are currently without power in the southeastern United States, most in Florida.

Many casualties

US President Joe Biden has declared a state of emergency and the National Hurricane Center (NHC) has said Ian could become "life-threatening".

So far, Ian has left at least eight fatalities in South Carolina, which means that a total of 43 people have died in connection with Ian.
