But SVT's mapping shows that the costs for the first half of 2022 have increased in all regions.

Värmland is one of four regions that has an increase of over 50 percent.

- We work to be an attractive employer.

But we have ended up in a staffing situation where we have to hire more staff, says Katarina Sigurdsson, HR manager in Region Värmland.

According to Katarina Sigurdsson, the increases are due, among other things, to the fact that the region tried to ensure that their staff received consecutive vacations and that staffing companies have charged more for rental staff.

Which professional groups do you hire the most from?

- We are independent of hired staff when it comes to nurses, so it is mainly hired doctors but also midwives.

What can you do to reduce the number of hired personnel?

- We are working with strategies to be independent from hired staff, we are still dependent on hired doctors, but we are working to find solutions to become independent, says Katarina Sigurdsson.
