Martin Svensson has been involved in photographing space for five years.

He has long had the dream of having his own space observatory.

In 2018, he decided, and started his project when he had to take over the old dilapidated chicken house.

- It was built by my grandfather.

Chickens lived in it for a long time before it became a storehouse.

When I took it over, it was just a lump with a hole in it, he says.

The space observatory, named New Old Onsala Observatory, is fully automated and can be controlled remotely.

For example, the roof can be rolled off at the same time as the telescope is aimed at the sky.

- I know that there are others in Sweden who have their own observatories.

But I think I'm the only one who has it in a henhouse, laughs Martin Svensson.

P4 West was the first to report on the news.
