Storm Ian reached hurricane strength again on Thursday.
Ian, which has already wreaked havoc on Florida, is expected to move into South Carolina on Friday, according to the weather agency NOAA.
Parts of Florida are still without power and thousands are stuck in the floods.
It is difficult to estimate how many have died so far.
Florida Fire Chief Jimmy Patronis tells CNN that the storm is likely the worst natural disaster to hit the state.
