Iranian security forces have arrested nine nationals of European countries - including France, Germany, Poland, Italy, the Netherlands and Sweden - the Iranian intelligence ministry said.

“Nine nationals […] have been arrested at the scene, or are involved in the riots,” the Iranian intelligence ministry said in a statement.

These nine unidentified people were arrested "during riots or while conspiring in the shadows," the ministry said in a statement released by Iranian media.

These protests, harshly repressed by security forces, have erupted in many cities of the Islamic Republic since the death on September 16 of Mahsa Amini, a young Iranian Kurd of 22, after his arrest by the vice police for wearing clothes "not appropriate".
